Well it's been a month since my last post here - but what a month! - and for that I apologise. Here's some of what I've been up to:
1. My companies in the Red Group have been very busy, and I've been recruiting a business manager to run them day to day.
2. I've been to the Glastonbury festival for the first time. Leonard Cohen was fantastic, Amy Winehouse was terrible. But what I hadn't realised about this festival is how the main stages are only a part of what goes on - there were all sorts of other smaller perfomances, a whole circus zone, stand-up comedy, a market area, loads of differnet foods - and in general a really great atmosphere. Of course, being a jammy sod I got the first sunny Glastonbury in years, but I thought it was brilliant and would highly recommend it. Speaking of lucky - I had no delays getting onsite, or offsite. It was all very easy.
3. Met up with the team at Enterprise Insight. They had been reading my posts about the Enterprise White Paper and got in touch to invite me for a meeting to find out more about what they do, and how they fit in with the White Paper's plans. More about that soon.
4. Met with Richard Branson to talk about a project. Definitely more on that soon! But in short he impressed me even more than I thought he would. He's not just a nice guy - he's also very sharp and intelligent, with incredible people skills.
5. Been to Marrakech for a weekend on a work related trip (honest!)
6. Been to the Lake District for a weekend of partying, but also yomping cross country with an ex-army guy - very exhilarating.
7. Been in London for a weekend as a tourist. This is a first for me. I work in London a couple of days a fortnight, but never get to do the tourist thing. This was great fun. Saw a play, ate in some good restaurants, had a picnic from Ottolenghi's (try it!) in Holland Park listening to open air opera, saw a gig at the Albert Hall, and more. It was great fun.
6. I've interviewed Sir Paul Judge - who was a director of Cadbury, and then undertook the largest Management Buy Out ever when he created Premier Brands/Foods.
7. I also interviewed Lord MacLaurin, who was the CEO of Tesco, and then the Chairman of Vodafone.
8. And I interviewed Craig Sams, the founder of Green & Black's. All these interviews were recorded for Red Business, the monthly audio programme for business executives.
9. But most importantly of all I've been working on a very big project that will be unveiled soon.
And loads more besides. It's been a busy time, but lots of fun.
