Email has become the primary communications medium for most entrepreneurs these days - but that leads to the problem of Inbox Bloat, and important things get lost or forgotten as a result.
Sound familiar? Well, to swing to the rescue, here's a great collection of tips on keeping control of your email.
Personally, I use Outlook, linked into my company's Exchange server - but I've added in Copernic Desktop Search which is a free tool that catalogues all your emails, calendar items, web pages and any documents o your computer - making it easy to find anything, and I also use the GTD add-in tool for Outlook. (Don't know what GTD is? Find out more about Getting Things Done - a great and simple system for personal productivity that I (try to) use).
If you don't have a full Outlook/Exhange system, then Google Mail, or Gmail, has some excellent features for staying organised - and works in any web browser so you don't need to download and install software or be tied to one computer.
Merlin Mann is another writer that draws on and develops the GTD system, and he has these great tips for getting your inbox to zero.
I hope these tips help you tame the beast of your inbox - I'm now going back to mine to try to get it to zero again!
